About ESPN Ithaca
ESPN Ithaca 1160AM/107.1FM (WPIE) continues expansive coverage of local, regional, national and international sports including the play-by-play coverage for the New York Yankees, Syracuse Orange basketball & football, Cornell wrestling and approximately 75 local high school games per year. Simply put, ESPN Ithaca is the Lead Dog.
In addition to being the exclusive play-by-play provider of Section IV athletics in Ithaca, ESPN Ithaca’s team of reporters works diligently to establish relationships with local sports teams and report more than just the final score. From live in-game updates via social media, in-depth halftime shows and exclusive interviews with coaches and athletes, ESPN Ithaca has you covered.
ESPN Ithaca also hosts its annual Night of Champions Awards Dinner in June, celebrating over 50 of the area’s best athletes and coaches. The event not only recognizes outstanding individual achievement both on and off the field, but works with local sponsors and provides $3,000 in scholarships to local athletes and nearly another $4,000 in contributions to area booster clubs through our “Fueling Excellence” partnership with Ehrhart Energy.
The station also features Between the Lines, a fast-paced daily sports talk show hosted by Tim Donnelly that airs from 4-5 PM. The show features special guests from around the area, discusses local sports stories, and provides perspective on games and events. ESPN Ithaca’s reporters produce daily SportsCenter Updates and All Access reports hourly throughout the day.
MEET ESPN ITHACA
Todd Mallinson – President, Vizella Media /General Manager
Tim Donnelly- Operations Manager, Host of Between the Lines
Tim was born in Naples, Florida and spent his childhood in Galloway, New Jersey and Kaneohe, Hawaii, but comes to Ithaca with his wife, Mandy, and his dog, Blitzen. As an athlete, Tim participated in football, basketball, and track & field in high school, and continued his career as a quarterback at the University of Delaware. Now, he satisfies his competitive drive on golf courses, pick-up basketball courts, and in fantasy football leagues. Tim is the host of Between The Lines. Hear him breakdown local and regional sports stories every weekday between 4-5 pm on ESPN Ithaca.
Kevin English – Account Manager
A self-proclaimed “radio geek”, Kevin obtained his A.A.S. in Radio/TV from Onondaga Community College. His almost 30 year radio career started at 1260WNDR in the late 70’s while in college, continued in Cortland, NY at then OK100 (followed by Power 99.9) and then went on to become the morning guy and Program Director on LITE97FM in Ithaca for 13 years. After taking some time off from radio and working in corporate marketing and customer service in Ithaca, Kevin landed at ESPN Ithaca as an account manager and has been able to do what he loves best. “I love talking with people and offering my years of expertise to help them,” says Kevin. In his spare time, he loves playing golf, being with his family and watching the NY Giants, SU hoops and the NY Mets. Kevin is on the Ambassador and Golf Tournament Committee for the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce.
Nick Karski – Play-by-Play/Reporter/Anchor/Marketing Manager/Traffic Director
An Elmira native and Ithaca College alum, Nick is a five-time New York State Broadcasters Association Award winner. He is a play-by-play voice of Section IV athletics and hosts Gameday, a fast-paced hour of local college and high school football talk. He also anchors SportsCenter Updates and All Access reports. In some of his spare time, Nick enjoys watching his beloved Buffalo Bills, roots for the New York Yankees and has been to more concerts than he can count.
Will LeBlond – Multimedia Specialist/Play-by-Play/Reporter/Anchor
A native of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Will is a 2016 graduate of Ithaca College. He is ESPN Ithaca’s play-by-play voice of Ithaca High Boys Hockey, area high school soccer and lacrosse and Cornell Wrestling. Will also serves as an anchor of SportsCenter Updates and All Access reports. He came to ESPN Ithaca after he covered Cornell Men’s Hockey for USCHO and interned with ESPN Ithaca. During the winter, Will serves as the radio color analyst for the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Devils and is the play-by-play voice for the Cornell Women’s Hockey team. Will loves the New England Patriots (Tom Brady more specifically) and Boston Red Sox and hopes to work in the National Hockey League one day.
In 2017, ESPN Ithaca was a three-time award winner by the New York State Broadcasters Association. Nick Karski was honored for “Outstanding Sportscast.” Karski and Joe Gladziszewski were recognized for their play-by-play work in the category of “Outstanding Coverage of a Local Sporting Event.” Ithaca’s local sports talk show, Between the Lines, was awarded “Outstanding Broadcast Personality.”
